What is J-Rock Fanservice?

WARNING: If you’re homophobic, have anything against homosexual people or simply dislike yaoi (If you know what that is) I suggest you leave now.

With that being done, let’s get to the real thing.

J-Rock!! Visual Kei!!! Japan’s hardcore gore music! And then there is Japanese rock stars and their fans! When all these factors meet then something marvelous which is even better than yaoi comes out…

FANSERVICE!!!! ♥ :’)

No, no. I’m not talking about ANIME fanservice, that’s a completely different story. I’m talking about this⇓⇓⇓⇓

Hmmm, yeah, I love it *.* But why are two hot guys making out? Are they homo? No, not exactly, they are just too hot and love each other so they can’t help it 🙂 And yes, this is a thing that has been going on and on for years with many Japanese rock bands, mainly linked with the visual kei world.

Boys usually have their anime fanservice which most of the time is basically about girls going to hot springs, beaches or any other parts where they can show off their bodies and sexiness/kawainess and apparently this makes more than one happy when watching it. But what about we, girls! What about us? There has never been many anime’s like Natsuyasumi or similar that were hot enough to satisfy the strong fangirls demand! (Without the exception of the recent anime Free! Iwatobi Swin Club which is full of hot guys that can easily make you faint).

There is yaoi anime and manga, yeah, it exists. However yaoi it’s not a really dominant genre in the anime world where basically most of the anime made belongs to the shōnen genre. And that’s why we are grateful to visual kei and its fanservice for compensating the gap left by anime and manga. It’s actually even better because well… It’s real people *.* ♥

Look at that! Note the hotness and coolness combo going on there!

So how did it get started? Apparently back on the 90s in a live concert a blessed hot singer decided to kiss his friend in front of everyone else. The reaction was of course a wild crowd going crazy for what they just saw. Later on the topic became overwhelming popular among the fans and other bands and it became a trending in visual kei culture, going from shirt stripping to ear nibbling and more and more and more (´ q ` ” )

OMG OMG OMG ☆*:.。. o(≧▽≦)o .。.:*☆

Now please, don’t just think this happens with every Japanese rock band. As I said before this is mainly related to Visual Kei bands and singers like LM.C, Gackt, Teruki or Dir en Grey. I mean I don’t you will ever see Takuya from UVERworld make out with bassist Nobuto or ONE OK ROCK’s Taka kissing guitarist Toru, though many fans long for it to happen.

My friend Takacchi is gonna hate me for this~ ;P Not real by the way.

So yeah, that was basically my thoughts and definition of J-Rock fanservice. How was it? Do you also love yaoi? How incredible that this kind of things exist right? I personally love them both and I couldn’t live without any of them. Here it’s my farewell gift to feed your imagination and fantasies with your favorite artists. Have fun 😀

  1. Wow, that was great! Mosaic for tongues? Too funny! Knowing all of zero about J-Rock, I had no idea they did yaoi-esque fan service. Now I just have to figure out where I can find more… (¬‿¬)

  2. My only advice would be, please, do not conflate male homosexuality with yaoi. Yaoi is not male homosexuality. Yaoi has nothing to do with realistic male homosexuality which reinforces preconceived ideas about male homosexuals.
