So 2014 is been weird and a amazing year in many ways. The Ebola break out in Africa a fatal virus without cure, took over the media worldwide while millions started panicking about if it might spread everywhere! Also tons of people were showered in freezing water during summer in the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge that also took over the world for about 3 months, of these tons of corcerned people probably half of them actually did donate money for the cause meanwhile the others just did it for fun… Oh yeah also this ▽
*Wails* Japanese politician Ryutaro Nonomura theatrically excusing himself about his allegedly profligate use of public funds. *Sniff. Sniff.*
In other news Frozen continued to be a huge sensation this year too, especially in Japan where the film became the best selling animated feature surpassing Spirited Away and Avatar among others. The merchandising took off with shattering record sales of DVDs, Blu-Ray, CD Singles, Games etc.
Known as アナと雪の女王 (Ana To Yuuki no Jou), Frozen is still selling strong in Japan one year after its release.
And then there is ‘Kawaii-metal’ group BABYMETAL, with their viral hit-song “Gimme Chocolate!” storming the world with their head banging kawaiiness which catapulted them to international fame with their first international tour covering US, Asia and Europe.
Weird, funny, awesome, this year was different in many ways as I said with all these things I mentioned before and more. So I could spend the rest of the day talking about what things shocked me the most or what things influenced my year. Now I came here today to leave a top-ten list of the most watched J-Pop videos in YouTube this year and probably you won’t care about anything but this list, that if you actually read all of this or just skipped to the ranking and I know how bad you wanna know this so I won’t get in more talk now (*Trollface*), here I leave the Most Watched J-Pop Videos in 2014.
As I said before Frozen is selling like hotcakes, all attention is going to this film and like in the U.S and the rest of the world not just the film but the song “Let It Go” is a huge hit too. So it was in Japan, were all the possible views were absorbed by the Japanese version of Let It Go titled “ありのままで” (Ari no Mama de) and the alternative version of the song including other songs featured in the movie. Now, Frozen is a film made in U.S, the soundtrack likewise, produced and composed in U.S, the only Japanese thing that these 6 have are the lyrics. I didn’t feel like adding translations of a American film OST and include them as J-Pop songs because in the end they aren’t. They are just Japanese versions of American hit songs. It’s like having an official translation of AKB48‘s Fortune Cookies in English. It’s originally J-Pop! I don’t know if I made myself clear here, but If by any reason you disagree with this topic please feel free to share your opinions.
